IPI tranist delay Update: 2nd Train Derailment Nov 8, 2018
On November 08, 2018 at 12:30 a.m. CDT a SECOND train derailed on the San Bernardino subdivision between, Prado Dam and Esperanza, CA impacting BNSF main line tracks. The first main track was open on November 08, 2018 at 7:20 a.m. CDT and the second main track was opened on November 08, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
As a result of the derailment(s) our intermodal facilities are experiencing elevated inventory due to the delay of departing eastbound inventory from the facilities following the opening of the main line tracks today and associated train congestion. BNSF is taking the following actions as part of the service recovery effort.
• BNSF began restricting units from ingating at Los Angeles, CA starting at 12:00 p.m. CDT 11/08/18 for standard (p-rated) units destined to Pearland, TX, Kansas City, KS, Memphis, TN, and Alliance, TX.
• In addition to the restrictions above we will be expanding the gate restrictions to the following destinations to assist in further recovery efforts as a result of these service interruptions. Additional gate restrictions for standard (p-rated) traffic destined to Rutherford, PA, Croxton, NJ, Austell, GA, Charlotte, NC and all international traffic will go into effect at 17:00 p.m. CDT on 11/08.
Expect delays of 48+ hours in addition to the 48+ hour delays we are already experiencing at L.A. due to extreme ramp congestion from elevated peak volumes for all inbound and outbound traffic.
Imperial will continue to provide you with additional information as it become available.
